Summer 2024 Study Abroad in Dynamic KOREA!

The course is scheduled to take place over 19 days in Seoul, Songdo, and adjacent cities in Korea, and will be led by Dr. Juntae Jake Son in the Department of Construction Management and Interior Design. This course is 3-credit hours course and students will have immersive experience in Korea. The College of Architecture and Planning has a rich history of faculty-led study abroad experiences. Leveraging our partnerships with experts and institutions in interior design, architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning in South Korea, this program will provide students with an immersive experience that will significantly enhance their knowledge and provide a rich exposure to the field of an Asian country.

Our CAP students want to help our community! Please join us!

Jeanetta is a local community member here in Muncie. Right now, she is expecting to face this winter without a furnace, and we think no one should have to. We hope you will be proud to know that we, as a part of Ball State, are trying to make an impact on our community! Her home requires a new furnace, water heater, and ventilation systems, but our goal is to reach $6,000 to purchase her furnace this time.

2022 ID Las Vegas Field Trip

Field trips provide opportunities for connecting theory and practice and experiencing the physical and social realities. This October we will embark on a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada where we can learn about a specialized field, casino design. During this five-day field trip, we will visit not only casinos but tour high-end hotels, luxury retail spaces, and world-renowned restaurants. We will visit two of the largest interior design firms and see firsthand some of the projects they have completed. We will tour Las Vegas Design Center and visit two iconic museums. Additionally, we will take a bus tour of Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon, one of the wonders of the world. We are also coordinating a visit with the local interior design program at the University of Nevada to meet with students and tackle a design challenge.

Journal: Cross-building prediction of natural ventilation rate with small datasets based on a hybrid ensembled transfer learning

By |7월 4th, 2023|Categories: Articles|

Natural ventilation (NV) systems are becoming increasingly popular as they improve indoor air quality (IAQ) and reduce building energy usage. However, predicting future NV rates is a challenging issue for NV and hybrid systems, which combine NV with mechanical ventilation. The variability of NV due to building features and indoor/outdoor environmental changes makes it difficult to define the timing and approach of optimal NV system control in individual and multiple spaces. This study proposes hybrid ensembled transfer learning (HETL) to predict NV rates between building spaces with varying physical features and [...]
